Welcome to the Adopt-A-Family Program

Who children a head start, the provider of Head Start, Early Head Start and The Colorado Preschool Program in Colorado Springs hosts Adopt-A-Family every year for individuals, groups, schools, and businesses to provide holiday meals, gifts and supplies to hundreds of families in our program.

Adopt A Family’s website portal provides all the information you will need Login to view family profiles, wish lists and needs. Choose your adoption(s). CPCD will arrange for families to pick up their gifts. Due to confidentiality for the families, direct deliveries to them are discouraged. You will receive notes of thanks from the families. All items purchased should be new as this is a holiday for them to remember for years to come.

The Adopt A Family website launches November 1 and will close once all families are adopted. Delivery of items is scheduled for Thursday, December 8th from 8am - 6pm at CPCD Central Office

The CPCD Central Office is located at 2330 Robinson Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80904. Click here for directions.

Every year, hundreds of children will miss of the joy of a festive holiday dinner, new winter clothes or a special gift due to financial hardship. Adopt A Family gives these children and their families a true experience in the gift of giving. Arguably the most rewarding of all volunteer opportunities, Adopt A Family boasts the most rewarding success, smiles and sincere thanks from recipients and donors alike.

“It really is a BIG DEAL”

Theodore Biggie and his big heart

Ted and Ginny Biggie returned to Colorado Springs after raising their family and enjoying successful careers. In Colorado Springs, they found great joy with friends, extended family and in giving back to their community. For over 10 years, Ted and Ginny would wait until midnight to be the first ones online for CPCD’s Adopt A Family website. They would choose an average of 30 families per year to adopt for the holidays. Adopt A Family is Ginny’s heart and Ted went right along with the holiday warmth. He built bikes, put together toys and helped keep all the gifts organized for pick-up. Ted was the “Teddy Bear” of the holidays looking with glee at his garage full of bikes and house full of gifts.

Ted’s big heart gave out unexpectedly in May of this year at age 82. His full and happy life will carry on this year as Ginny and friends of the family come together for another year of making wishes come true for CPCD children and families. We will miss Ted as we embrace Ginny and dedicate this year’s Adopt A Family to the Biggie family.
